»Project Title: Establishment of a National Disaster management Programme in the Gambia

Development Objectives

To support the development of a comprehensive disaster management framework in the Gambia through the development of a disaster management policy and legal framework to reduce vulnerability to and mitigate against the adverse effects of disasters

Activities

  • Development of a disaster management policy and legal framework
  • Strengthening disaster management committees at both central and divisional levels
  • Establishment of a disaster management office
  • Development of an emergency AHI preparedness plan for the Gambia
  • Capacity building/training for disaster management committee members

Intended Results

Through this project, the various disaster management committee members will be trained in the techniques of disaster management and a national policy and legal framework will be developed to form the basis for the establishment of a national disaster office in the Gambia
