Development Objectives

Capacity of Mass Media and CSOs strengthened to promote human rights and good governance.

Activities

• Establishment of a PMU to render technical advise and coordinate the attainment of the identified outputs.
  
• Strengthening professional standards and economic viability of Media Houses to advocate for human development through capacity assessment exercise of media houses, development of strategic plan and followed by relevant actions such as training or institutional strengthening in identified gaps
  
• Strengthening Capacity of Civil Society organisations to monitor and respond to Economic and Political Decisions taken at National and Local level through capacity assessment exercises of CSOs, development of strategic plan and followed by relevant actions such as training or institutional strengthening in identified gaps.
  
• Enhancement of Policy and legal environment for protection of Human Rights and greater civic participation in the economic and political decision-making process through sensitization of national assembly members on human rights based approach to development and gender equality, review and develop progressive strategies for human rights and media related laws and policies
  
• Monitoring and Evaluation exercises through preparation of quarterly, mid-year and end-year reports as well as organization of quarterly review meetings
  

Intended Results

The project is expected to strengthen the capacity of media houses to advocate for human development issues in the Gambia, strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organizations to monitor and respond to economic and political decisions at national and local levels and to enhance policy and legal environment for protection of human rights and greater civic participation in the political and economic decision-making processes.
