»Project Title: Capacity enhancement for women in decision making processes

Development Objectives

Increased participation of women at all levels of Decision-making.

Activities

  • Capacities of selected women enhanced in advocacy, community leadership and confidence building, through a structured identification of capacity needs followed by relevant training, advocacy and negotiation.
  • Political parties engaged to allocate a quota of political seats to women members. This will be done through the organization of stakeholder fora to validate capacity gaps and draw up action plan for the required interventions.
  • Basic public awareness raised on the social benefits of having women in leadership positions to break cultural barriers.
  • Knowledge base of female leaders enhanced through the establishment of information centers in local government authorities.

Intended Results

In contravention with the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2007-2011, the project will seek to reinforce the implementation of the National Women’s Policy, provide support to mainstream gender into national and sectoral policies and enhancing the capacity of the government to translate these policies and strategies into concrete interventions.
